Janie Bullock Gurganus

Janie Bullock Gurganus, daughter of the late Irving Bullock and Allie Ward Bullock, was born in Everetts, on February 10, 1939.

Janie married Marvin Gurganus (deceased in 2003) in 1979. She also was preceded in death by her sister Janice B. Barber.

She is survived by her daughter Kathy Daniels (Wynne); three stepsons, Marvin Gurganus Jr. (Kim), Ricky Gurganus (Vicky) and Steve Gurganus (Kelly), 10 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; three special nieces, Elaine Jones (Carl), Jackie Thomas (David) and Johna Gurganus (Ken); and a very special friend and caregiver Jennifer Blevins.

Janie was a woman of faith and loved the Lord. She enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Her laughter will be remembered by all that knew her.

A funeral service was held Sunday, June 22, at Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth, with Reverend Leonard Bowers officiating. Burial followed at Hillside Memorial Gardens. 

The family received friends prior to the service at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Plymouth.

Van Thomas Norman

Former Plymouth resident Van Thomas Norman, 70, of Powell's Point, died Saturday, June 14, 2025, at home.

Minister Robert Watts officiated a service Saturday, June 21, at Toodle's Chapel.

Toodle’s Funeral Home, Washington Street, Plymouth, was in charge of arrangements.
