Overall school scores drop; high school doubles

Statewide scores released for student testing shows that, overall, Washington County Schools dipped in the percentage of students working at or above grade level, from 40.3 percent in the 2023-2024 year to 34.7 percent for 2024-2025.

The high school might be Washington County’s shining star this year, more than doubling overall proficiency from 13.7 to 28.1 percent.

Superintendent David White notes that digging deeper reveals some other successes, including grade 5 reading increasing by 11.2 points, Math 3 jumping 15.8 points and grade 4 math up 7.5 points.
