Creswell native Mike “Stephen” Harris Jr., was recognized for his valor and his courage in the line of duty during a Friday afternoon ceremony, where his friends, family, and dignitaries surrounded him from his hometown.
Harris, who is a member of the Currituck Fire-EMS emergency responders, was recognized and awarded the Medal of Valor for his efforts to rescue a person in peril during a water rescue incident in July.
