Louise Stillman reported quite a bit of news on her fellow Creswell denizens.
This news included:
- W.P. Boyd attended the funeral of his uncle Mr. Millard Smith in Washington Wednesday.
- Ann Phelps and Mrs. Nancy Spruill were in Norfolk, VA, shopping Monday.
- and Mrs. Earl Midgett visited their son Mr. Henry Lee Midgett at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington Sunday.
- and Mrs. Joe Reynolds of Creswell announced the birth of a girl, Billy Joe, born Nov. 8, 1975, weighing 7 lbs. 12 oz.
- Мг. and Mrs. Wayne Liverman announced the birth of a son born November 22, 1975. Weighing 8 lbs. and 7 oz.
- Bill Davenport and daughter Kim of Norfolk spent Sunday with his parents Mr. and Mrs. McCoy Davenport.
- and Mrs. Robert Springfield of Swansboro spent Sunday with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Howard Ambrose.
Washington County Schools announced their early week menu for students:
- Monday, December 1, toasted cheese sandwich, stewed tomatoes, green beans, peanut butter cookies and milk.
- Tuesday, December 2, cheeseburger on bun, baked beans, summer slaw, chocolate cake and milk.
Wednesday, December 3, fried bologna, steamed cabbage, buttered potatoes, roll, jello and milk.
Several barges broke away on the Chowan River and struck the U.S. Highway 17 bridge spanning the river some seven miles west of Edenton. No injuries were reported and cause of the incident was placed under investigation by the NCDOT.
William Preston Spruill, Jr., 21, of Route 1, Creswell, was fined $150 in costs and ordered to surrender his license after pleading guilty to driving under the influence and not stopping after an accident.
Letha Mae Harrell of Plymouth was found not guilty of assault with a deadly weapon.
Robert Lee Webb, 28, of Route 1, Creswell, was given two years in jail suspended and fined $50 and court costs after being found guilty of assault with a deadly weapon. He was also ordered not to assault the prosecuting witness for five years.
