Holy Week has arrived in Plymouth, and with it a full schedule of ecumenical midday services, a Way of the Cross Walk, and the promise of Easter Sunday on April 5 — all of it set in motion this past Sunday as congregations across town waved palm branches and opened their hearts to a season of faith, renewal, and new beginnings.

Holy Week Services

The week’s ecumenical gatherings bring together clergy and congregations from across the community, with a different church hosting each day and a visiting pastor leading the service.

On Monday, Plymouth United Methodist Church hosts the noon service, with the Rev. Harry White of New Chapel Missionary Baptist Church presiding. Lunch follows. Tuesday’s service moves to New Chapel Missionary Baptist Church, where the Rev. Vickie Woolard of Plymouth UMC will lead worship at noon, with lunch afterward.

Wednesday, Plymouth First Christian Church welcomes the community at noon, with the Rev. General James of Long Ridge Missionary Baptist Church leading the service and lunch to follow. On Thursday, Long Ridge Missionary Baptist Church hosts, with the Rev. Karen Pruette of Albemarle Charge leading the noon service and lunch.

The week closes Friday with the Way of the Cross Walk, gathering at noon outside Plymouth First Christian Church. No lunch follows the walk.
