CRESWELL — A remarkable milestone is being celebrated in Washington County as Saint Mark African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church commemorates 150 years of ministry, perseverance, and community impact in the town of Creswell. Founded in the aftermath of slavery by formerly enslaved men and women determined to build a place of worship and hope, the church stands today as a powerful symbol of faith, resilience, and African American history in eastern North Carolina.
