Linda LaRue Sutton Russell ‘Whitley’
Linda LaRue Sutton Russell “Whitley”, 78, of Creswell, passed away Sunday, July 26, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.
Born April 23, 1948, Lin da was the daughter of the late James Paul Sutton and Garnet Pierce Sutton.
She was preceded in death by her son, Christopher Lynn Russell; brother, Charles Sutton; and sister-in-law, Connie Sutton.
She dearly loved her daughter, Angela, and cherished the special bond they shared. She is survived by her lifelong significant other, Joseph Ed ward Whitley of Creswell, NC; daughter, Angela Dawn Russell of Virginia Beach, VA; step daughters, Lisa Jill Newman of Virginia Beach, VA, and Laura Jean Walters of Williamsburg, VA.
Per her request, no services will be held.

John Earl McVicker, Jr., 59, of Columbia NC, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at his home.
John was born on May 27, 1967, in West Virginia, to the late John Earl McVicker, Sr and Diana Hose McVicker, who sur vives.
Per his request, no services will be held.
John is survived by his life partner, Sandra Silverdahl, his son Justin Winter (Ryann) of Virginia. One grandson, James on Winter. His brother Charlie Wilson of Manteo and four sis ters: Teri Tustin, Diedra Wil son, Cheryl Kerner and Tammy Berger. Five “step children “ Melanie Orlanda, Lisa Hartwell, Kristen Felix, Jacob Rhodes and Allison Rhodes. In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Leslie Wilson.
