ROPER — The 28th Annual Roper Peanut Festival will bring two days of music, carnival rides, vendors and family activities to downtown Roper Friday and Saturday, Sept. 11-12.

This year’s festival will also include a piece of Washington County history, with a discussion lead by Chris Barber following Saturday’s annual Peanut Festival Parade.

In the Beacon's article regarding this event, the unveiling of the marker for Col. Edward Buncombe was incorrectly listed. That event will be held Oct. 3, 2026, at St. Luke’s Cemetery, 841 Cross Road, Roper. We apologize for the error.

For information, check out the Sept. 9, 2026, edition of the Roanoke Beacon.
