Washington County School Superintendent David White says school administrators no longer have reason to believe that a March homicide has any connection to a fight the previ ous evening in school.
A Sept. 2 Roanoke Beacon report on the arrest of a juvenile suspect in the March 11 shooting on Roosevelt Avenue cited a comment made by White six months ago, in which he said the shooting death and the school fight may have been connected. White points out that, currently, “we have no evidence” that the incidents are connected.
“We have no evidence that the previous evening’s shooting on March 10th was connected to the fight or subsequent shoot ing death on March 11th. We defer to law enforcement and their investigation.”
In August, North Carolina SBI charged an unnamed juvenile in the shooting that took the life of 16-year-old Cameron Sand ers March 11.
