PLYMOUTH — Washington County High School has no shortage of talent to be proud of this season, and this week the Panthers are shining a spotlight on one of their brightest: senior Ke'Nyia Young.

A three-year veteran of the Panthers volleyball program, Young has become the kind of player every coach hopes to build a team around — one who does it all. Asked what position she plays, her answer says it all.

"I play all," Young said.

That versatility and team-first attitude are exactly what make her stand out.

"I like being part of a team and being able to compete with my teammates," Young said. "I also enjoy the relationships and memories we make together."

Now in her senior season, Young is determined to leave her mark and help lead the Panthers on a postseason run.

"My goals are to continue improving, stay consistent, and give my best effort every game," she said. "I hope our team has a successful season and makes a strong run in the playoffs."

Young's drive isn't limited to the volleyball court. She's a standout student-athlete in every sense, balancing her sport with membership in the National Honor Society, the NAACP and the National Beta Club — all while excelling in Washington County's early college program, where her favorite class is Writing/Research. She also suits up for the Panthers' basketball team, proving her competitive spirit carries across every season.

Her hard work is already paying dividends beyond high school. After graduation, Young plans to attend college, continue her basketball career and work toward a future in healthcare — a bright path ahead for a young woman already making a name for herself in Washington County.

"I am still deciding where I would like to attend," she said, "but I am looking at different colleges that have good academic and athletic opportunities."

Even with everything on her plate, Young keeps her focus sharp and her spirit grounded. Her hobbies — playing sports, spending time with family and friends, and listening to music — help fuel the energy she brings to every match.

"Before games, I like listening to music, getting focused, and making sure I have everything ready before I play," Young said.

And after a hard-fought game? A plate of her favorite comfort food does the trick.

"My favorite food is probably chicken," she said.

With leaders like Ke'Nyia Young setting the tone, the Panthers' volleyball program — and Washington County athletics as a whole — has plenty to be excited about as the season continues. Congratulations to Ke'Nyia Young, this week's Athlete of the Week!
