COVID-19 infections continue to skyrocket across the three-county MTW Health District, but there may be signs of future improvement, according to Director Wes Gray.
“We still have high, high numbers (of new positive tests),” Gray said last week, “but it’s leveling off in some places where it was high, so maybe we’ll see that here.”
Gray also points to the growing number of residents getting vaccinated in Martin, Tyrrell and Washington counties as encouraging.
“The numbers have been creeping up,” he says. “We have about 48 percent of the population now that has had at least the first dose.”
Overall, the percentage of those fully-vaccinated are somewhat lower — 43 percent in Martin, 40 percent in Tyrrell and 41 percent in Washington...
