Spec building bidding war continues

A small-scale bidding war continues in overtures by two organizations to acquire a Washington County commercial facility, with the latest purchase offer climbing to $375,000.

Bidding for the 12-acre site and 25,000-square-foot building adjacent to Plymouth Municipal Airport began with an opening bid of $235,000 in mid-October after county commissioners launched an upset bid initiative to recruit a buyer for the building that was constructed at county expense a decade ago in an effort to stimulate industry and em- ployment opportunity. The structure has never been occupied.

In an upset bid process, each bid can be overturned by a higher bid submitted in a timely manner. The latest $375,000 bid — announced to county commissioners at the January 3 meeting — comes from VL Group A LLC, a corporation with ties to Sun Energy...
