Republicans should beware, AOC’s star is on the rise

Up until now I’ve written almost exclusively about the Republican Party because they’ve got the power and the momentum behind them.

Despite some pitfalls and foolish maneuvers, the GOP is still in the good graces of the American public. But that reality is shifting as President Trump’s foreign policy in Ukraine seems to have hit a stall and tariffs continue to haunt the economy.

What I’m getting at is that there are more than a few glaring weaknesses for Democrats to exploit. While they’re clowning themselves right now by hiding illegal immigrants and flying to foreign nations to release deported criminals, they’re very much looking towards 2028.

Which is where I think it would behoove all of us to take more than a glance at what’s happening with everyone’s favorite commie ex bartender, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez.

At this point, I think it’s obvious that AOC is laying the groundwork for a presidential run and Republicans ought to start preparing for her ascent.

It’s important to point out that Cortez is far from the only Democrat that’s likely to throw her hat into the race. Senator Cory Booker went on a 25 hour long rant earlier this year that was meant to gin up momentum for his political return.

Similarly, representative Jasmine Crockett has been doing her best to hide her preppy roots and cosplay as a tough truth teller from the hood to make political waves of her own.

But no one among the running has been as successful at staying relevant as Cortez. It helps that she has the complete endorsement of fellow commie Bernie Sanders, who has been traveling around the country by her side in a not so subtle, albeit long-winded, passing of the torch.

Alongside Sanders, Cortez is putting together quite a few polished videos that are putting out “hope and change” vibes for the future.

In many ways, AOC is the perfect inheritor of Bernie Sanders’ will as she shares his radical worldview. Cortez is young and truly idealistic and passionate about reshaping the world into the more utopian vision she and Sanders absolutely believe is possible.

It’s just that sort of reckless, empty-headed though big-hearted enthusiasm that can pave the way for an unlikely victory.

Former CNN host and current News Nation anchor Chris Cuomo was particularly dismissive of a potential AOC victory.

“AOC has done nothing meaningful in Congress. She’s done it all on social media. And she’s one of your leading names and who’s going to be president?” Cuomo said. “She’s an 80/20 loser all day long. Why? She is clearly catering to a minority. She’s not about solutions. She wants government to give you everything. She’s a socialist in a capitalist society. What are you thinking?”

I don’t often agree with anything the Chris Cuomo said, and typically, he would be 100 percent correct. Cortez is not only a subpar politician but she also has few if any legislative victories under her belt.

However, what she does have is considerable momentum from young people and a fair bit of old radicals. And best believe that those types are looking for a fresh young face with an easily digestible backstory to support and root for against the dastardly GOP.

The more I think about AOC, the more I think she’s sort of a bizarro JD Vance.

I make that DC Comics reference because if you glance at the two of them on paper, really quickly without reading too deeply, you come away with a similar narrative.

In a political climate where most of our politicians are in their 70s and 80s, both are incredibly young. Both Cortez and Vance grew up on the lower end of the socioeconomic ladder. Both transcended their stations in life to become prominent Americans with name recognition. And of course, both represent a sort of heroes journey that many would like to emulate on their respective sides of the political aisle.

Just to go ahead and get this out of the way, I understand that those who know both of their stories are probably throwing up in your mouths a little.

Just keep in mind, that most American voters are simply looking at surface level details of people’s lives and no deeper than that. So there’s no need for you to bring up that Vance grew up in an almost hopeless situation while AOC was a cute bartender who was likely always going to marry well and be just fine in life.

I’m saying that her being a cute airhead with a dream and a passion to change the world is something that tens of millions of people can identify with and most certainly will throw their weight behind.

And make no mistake, AOC will likely have the support of millions once her name is on the ballot, especially because the political climate is becoming more and more volatile by the day.

I know that a lot of people on the right aren’t going to appreciate me saying this, but it happens to be true. The economy has turned out to be real blunder for President Trump and one that I don’t think will be fixed anytime soon.

Despite backing off of the tariff wars and trying to restore some sense of normalcy back into the marketplace, the damage has largely been done. The one ironclad aspect that most everyone believed about Trump, namely his economic stability, has been shattered.

Don’t get me wrong. There’s still time to carve something useful out of this mess, but the fact remains that most people, even those that aren’t really paying attention, rightfully view our current national situation as volatile. It’s prime atmosphere for a democrat like AOC to swoop in from the rafters and make political hay and that’s something that the GOP ought to be taking seriously beyond our present moment.
