Plymouth native Ebony Lacy is the proud owner of Embracing Touch Homecare Agency, a non-medical home care facility based in Rocky Mount that offers compassionate care across 16 counties.

The daughter of Sharon and the late Irvin G. Gallop, Ebony says that she has always had a passion for helping and serving others. So much so, that she always desired to join the medical industry to try and make a difference in that arena.

“I’ve always wanted to serve other people in some way. That’s just how I grew up,” she says. “I grew up in church and I always served in the choir, on the usher board… So I grew up with that mindset and I always knew I would apply it to other things.”

After graduating from Plymouth High School in 2001, Lacy attended Saint Augustine’s University, leaving with a business administration degree.

Sometime later, she switched her focus to the medical industry and attended nursing school where she officially cultivated her lifelong passion for helping others.

Following graduation, Lacy would go on to work within a number of major hospitals and healthcare providers.

“Before I went into business for myself, I ended up working at a number of hospitals, including Wake Med, Duke Regional and a few other hospitals before I got tired of working for other people.”

In 2021, Lacy officially launched Embracing Touch Homecare Agency at its Rocky Mount location. Here, Lacy has quickly grown her business into a dependable and trustworthy outlet for patients across a wide swath of Eastern North Carolina.

“I wanted to be able to offer services across all 16 counties in the east,” she says proudly. “Because I’m from Plymouth, I wanted to start my business no more than 90 miles away from my home county. Setting up my business in Rocky Mount allowed me to bring my business to the Washington County area as well as the Wake County, Nashville and the rest of the surrounding counties too. I wanted to serve as much of East Carolina as possible...”
