WAYT: It’s your turn!

It’s your turn.

If you’re a resident of any of Washington County’s towns and you have been unhappy with recent actions and behaviors on town council, it’s your turn to replace complaining with action.

You, too, can face the po- tential sadness and feeling of rejection if you don’t win.

You can risk public ridicule for taking — or not taking — action.

You can find out what it’s really like to have Monday morning quarterbacks analyze the progress, or lack thereof a new council makes.

On the up side, you could be a new driving force for a new direction for the town.

You could spearhead a new era of transparency and economic development and prosperity for the town and its residents. But you can’t do any of that from your living room, from the podium during the public comment period of meetings or from your Facebook page.

The first step in making your version of positive change is putting yourself out there and filing to be a candidate.

Just go to the Board of Elections office, at the former Wash- ington County Middle School in Roper, fill out the paperwork and pay your $5 fee.

Then you, too, can be in the thick of things, both good and bad.
