Plymouth has decided against moving forward with the purchase of a new $1.56 million equipment truck for the fire department, due, at least in large part, to a decision by the fire department.
Fire chief Josh Swain told council Monday evening, October 13, that the current truck is in worse shape than even they had imagined, and they need a solution that is quicker than the three years it would take to build a new truck.
Instead, he said they decided to look for a used truck.
Town manager Joanne Floyd said the town received two quotes for a new truck, and in July council approved the new E-One equipment truck with financing through Southern Bank at 4.92 percent interest..
