Council reverses course, OKs used equipment truck

Purchase of a “new” used equipment truck for Plymouth’s volunteer fire department is now in progress, following a special-meeting vote by town council last week.

Four members of the six-person council (John Tharps and Mary Nixon were absent) voted in favor of the purchase of a 2017 Pierce Enforcer Custom Heavy Rescue Truck for a $650,000 price.

The new initiative for replacement apparatus reverses a council decision from July to borrow $1.56 million to buy a new E-One Rescue Truck that would have taken three years to deliver – likely demanding a hefty property tax increase...
