Plymouth’s first Black female mayor takes oath

Plymouth’s new governing body took shape during a special Friday afternoon event that served as a public oath of office session rife with religious overtones and promises of a new unified direction for the town’s future.

Specifically, the program took place in Plymouth’s Maritime Museum, where Pastor Yolanda Clagon served as the emcee, introducing a trio of election winners that would take the reins in the coming week.

Most significantly, the event featured former councilwoman Crystal Davis, who ascends to the role of Plymouth’s new mayor, the first African-American female to do so in the town’s history...
