Jeannie McNair, director of the Hunger Heroes program, has served students at Washington County’s elementary and early college schools. Through her efforts, she has received countless donations that have benefited students, particularly those with food insecurity issues. As part of its mission, the Hunger Heroes program identifies those students and ensure that they receive enough nutritious meats and snacks to last throughout the weekend. In ad- dition to food, McNair also supplies personal hygiene items and clothing. “We are seeking community partners who would be willing to join us in this service project. In order for Hunger Heroes to continue we need partnerships to assist us in gathering food and supplies,” McNair says. “Any contributions large or small would be greatly appreciated. I look forward to hearing from you. Food can be dropped off at Washington County Early College High School, 102 NC Hwy 32 North across from the Roper Post Office or at my address, 107 East Fourth Street, Plymouth.” McNair is also available to make pick-ups and can be reached at (252) 217-6059.
