Shelby Jane Peyton Flint, 89, of Plymouth, passed away peacefully on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Windsor House.
Shelby was born in Richwood, West Virginia, to the late Henry James and Capitola Rigsby Peyton.
Shelby worked for the law firm Steptoe and Johnson in Washington, DC, for many years, re tiring in 2008. She had a very full life, living all over the country and traveling abroad. She will be remembered for her gen tle heart, steadfast Chris ian faith, and the love she shared with family and friends. Though she will be deeply missed, those who knew and loved her find comfort in the promise that she is now at peace in the presence of her Savior.
She leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: Her nieces and nephews, Tim Peyton, Plymouth; Dianne Swain, Plymouth; Fay Peyton, Plymouth; Alan Peyton (Sonja) AL; James Bullock (Marie) Roper; Michael Bullock (Wanda) Williamston; Kara Jane Bullock Faucette (Tony) Gaston; her stepson, Ernie Rodriguez (Denise) Winterville, stepdaughter Lisa Pullum (Wayne) FL, along with many great-nieces and nephews, as well as other family members and dear friends whose lives were blessed by her love and faith.
Shelby was preceded in death by her parents; her infant son; her brother, Gene Henry Peyton; her sister, Gloria Lee Peyton Bullock; and her nephew, Steven Lewis Peyton.
Per her request no public services will be provided.

John Earl McVicker, Jr., 59, of Columbia NC, passed away on Tuesday, July 28, 2026, at his home. John was born on May 27, 1967, in West Virgin ia, to the late John Earl McVicker, Sr and Diana Hose McVicker, who sur vives. He spent his working years as a brick mason, working in Dare, Tyrrell and surrounding counties. Per his request, no ser vices will be held. John is survived by his life partner, Sandra Silver dahl, his son Justin Winter (Ryann) of Virginia. One grandson, Jameson Win ter. His brother Charlie Wilson of Manteo and four sisters: Teri Tustin, Diedra Wilson, Cheryl Kerner and Tammy Berger. Five “step children “ Melanie Orlan da, Lisa Hartwell, Kristen Felix, Jacob Rhodes and Alison Rhodes.
In Addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his sister, Leslie Wilson.

Janice Thompson James, 69, of Jamesville, NC., peacefully entered into eternal rest August 3, 2026, at ECU Health Medical Center, Greenville. A memorial service was held 2 p.m. Monday Aug. 10, 2026, at Uniontown Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Jamesville, NC., with Elder Teddy Keyes, officiating.

Ronnie Junior Downing, 63, of Plymouth, NC., was called into eternal rest July 29, 2026. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 8, 2026, at Toodle’s Chapel with Bishop Daniel Gilliam, officiating. Burial will follow in Macedonia Cemetery. Visitation was held Friday, Aug. 7, 2026, at Toodle’s Chapel.
