Carolyn Marshall Dunbar, 81, of the Ponzer community, passed away on Monday, Aug.10, 2026, at home sur rounded by her loving family. Ms. Carolyn was born in Beaufort County, NC, on Dec. 23, 1944, to the late Charles Henry Marshall and Eu genia Thomas Sanderson.
In 1965, she married her high school sweetheart, James K. “Jimmy” Dunbar, who preceded her in death.
A funeral service was held at 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 14, 2026, at Mt. Olive Church of Christ, with Pastor Mike Ca ton and Raffael Farrow, Jr., officiating. Burial followed in the church cemetery. The family received friends in the church fellowship hall immediately following the service.
Surviving are two sons: Charles K. “Chuck” Dunbar (Brooke) of the Pon zer Community, Todd Dunbar (Karen) of Scranton; four grandchildren, Kayla D. Mizelle (Reid), Katie Todd D. Pridgen (Walker), Nathan C. Dunbar, and Natalie J. Dunbar; great-grandchildren, Ryder, Kora, and Walker Kase; a special sister-in-law, Rebecca Dunbar of Scranton; two nephews, Robert Keith (Robbie) Dunbar Jr (Wendy), Richard B. Dunbar (Tina); four great nieces and nephews, Jordan, Joshua, Keith, and Kylie. Her adopted family, Marni Graff, and a host of special friends.

James Ronald Fowler, 79, of Fairfield, died Wednesday, August 12, 2026, at Tyrrell House Assisted Living, Colum bia.
Ron was born on September 15, 1946, in Johnston County, NC, to the late Julius and Mamie Adock Fowler.
He honorably served his country in the United States Navy during the Viet nam War (1967-1970).
No services will be scheduled.
Surviving are a brother, Cecil Fowler of Virginia Beach, Va., and a sister, Laura Perry of Florida. He was preceded in death by a brother, Donald J. Fowler.
