Theressa Phelps Negrete
Theressa Phelps Negrete, 66, of Creswell, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, September 7, 2026.
Born November 24, 1959, in Chowan County, Theressa was the daugh ter of the late Billy Ray Phelps and Judy Godwin Phelps.
She was a faithful member of Mount Hermon Methodist Church, where she dearly loved her church family. Theressa loved her family with all her heart, but there was no deny ing the very special place her grandsons held in her life. Isiah and Giovanni were truly her pride and joy, and she made sure they knew it. She spoiled them absolutely rotten and loved every minute of it. To Theressa, there was simply nothing too good for her boys, and the time she spent with them was among her most cherished.
Theressa was a true “Diva” in every sense of the word. She loved to look her best and was rarely seen without her hair done, her fingernails pol ished, and herself dressed just right. Her personality was every bit as memorable as her style. She loved people, loved to laugh, and especially loved making others laugh. She could light up a room, was the life of the party, and had a special way of making everyone around her feel important and loved. Whether with her family, her church family, or her friends, Theressa brought laughter, warmth, and plenty of personality wherever she went.
Left to cherish her memory are her beloved son, Jose “Tony” Negrete (Falana Twiddy) of Creswell; her loving com panion, Maurice Holloway; sisters, Sarah Fellat and husband, Abdelmjid Fellat, of Houston, Texas, and Tina Chavez and husband, Manuel Chavez, of Creswell; and her pride and joy, her two cherished grandsons, Giovanni Jay Negrete and Isaiah Cortez Negrete; nieces and neph ews, Maria Fellat, Bran don Chavez, Leila Fellat, and Anna Chavez. A Celebration of Life Service was held Saturday, Sept. 12, 2026, at 2 p.m. at Mount Hermon Methodist Church. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 1 until 1:45 p.m. at the church.
Theressa will be re membered for her deep love of family, devotion to her church family, won derful sense of humor, un mistakable style, and the joy she brought into the lives of those around her. Her laughter, larger-than life personality, and spe cial gift for making others feel loved will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Patricia M. Davenport
Patricia M. Davenport of Creswell NC, better known as Pat, passed away peacefully on Aug. 30, 2026. She was preceeded in death by her husband Jim my Davenport and daugh ter Melanie Davenport.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa Barco of Manteo NC; sister, Peggy Webb of Myrtle Beach SC; son, Colin Davenport of Charlottesville VA; grand son, Atlas Davenportl; and his mother, Lindsay Barvir, also of Charlottesville VA.
Pat was born in Cre swell, NC, on March 10, 1937, and by all accounts was an amazing athlete in her youth and loved to play basketball and town softball. It was said she loved to dance and based on her record colle tion was a huge fan of Herb Alpert, Neil Diamond, DoWop and Bette Midler. She spoke of family gatherings, oyster roasts, and winter holidays with her family as her favorite memories. She devoted her time to raising children, hers and any others who came to the house. She volunteered at Creswell Elementa ry school and found joy and purpose running teen church with Judy when no one else would. After the passing of her husband in 2006, she fought through to find joy in her next chapter. Game nights with the Furloughs, lunches with Mabel and friends, and visits from her kids were her favorite things: Game Show Net work, Wheel of Fortune, Puzzles, and thousands of books filled spare time.
Since 2022, she seemed to find the most joy in spending time with her grandson Atlas. Playing toddler basketball, reading to him, and singing Etta James, Dance with me Henry to make his day.
She made an impression on everyone, either for her toughness, stubbornness, kindness, opinions, comedy, love...or her 6-foot frame (she was so proud of that). Her corner of the universe on Benson Road was heaven and held dear, she never pictured herself anywhere else and for that reason her ashes will be spread there.
Surviving family will respect her wishes and no formal funeral services will be held. However, she loved a good gathering so there will be a celebration of life with her favorite board games, food, and music on Nov. 7, 2026. Time and location to be determined. Andrew Paul Ever ett, 69, of Creswell, NC., passed away September 7, 2026, at ECU Health Medical Center, Green ville, NC. He was a veteran of the US Navy. Funeral services with military rites will be 12 p.m. Friday September 18, 2026, at Toodle’s Chapel.
Burial will fol low in Toodle’s Cemetery. View ing will be one h o u r prior to service.

Eldress Brenda Gilliam Hill, 65, of Roper, NC. gained her heavenly wings September 9, 2026.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Thursday September 17, 2026, at New Bethel Church of Christ (Disci ples of Christ) Church, Roper, NC. Burial will follow in New Bethel Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ) Cemetery.
Viewing will be one hour prior to service.
