Belief in a white supremacy virus is the worst conspiracy

Billionaire Jeffrey Epstein’s apparent suicide is quickly becoming the biggest story in the nation. This is no doubt due to a number of conspiracy theories being perpetrated by both political parties.

If you let the left tell it, President Trump took out Epstein in order to avoid being implicated in the man’s sex scandals.

Meanwhile, those on the right accuse the Clintons of killing off yet another inconvenient loose end that threatened to topple their evil underground empire.

I’d like to state for the record that while I’m deeply tickled by all of this, there was a far more dangerous conspiracy theory being perpetrated by a Congresswoman.

In the aftermath of the El Paso, Texas, shooting, Alexandria Ocasio Cortez took to Twitter explaining the white supremacy sickness.

“White supremacy is like a virus. Supremacists are those who have been completely overcome by the disease, but supremacy -the virus- exists on a larger scale beyond just the infected. It also lays dormant,” Cortez explained.

“White supremacy is often subconscious. And clearly, our nation has not been inoculated. WS is our nation’s original sin; the driving logic of slavery, native genocide, of Jim Crow, segregation, of mass incarceration, of ‘send her back.’ Recognizing supremacy in ourselves, our institutions, our subconscious, our own past remarks or acts (no matter how consciously unintentional), is what makes the healing work ahead challenging.”

Words cannot express how inherently dangerous this line of thinking is. Worse, this is an idea that the bulk of leftists believes and are encouraging Americans to believe about themselves.

The idea that everyone you meet is a secret racist waiting to be unleashed is akin to the days where the superstitious accused women of being witches and burned them to alleviate their problems.

Fittingly, many on the right are having a lot of fun at former vice president Joe Biden’s expense. Despite being the highest polling 2020 presidential hopeful, Biden is a gaffe machine and has been consistently saying unintentionally hilarious and downright false statements throughout his campaign trail.

His latest verbal mistake came during a speech in Iowa where he told a crowd that “poor kids are just as smart as white kids.” The implication being that poor translates to anyone who isn’t Caucasian.

Was this what Cortez was talking about? Does this brief slip of the tongue reveal that old Joe Biden has been infected this entire time with white supremacy? Of course it doesn’t.

Last week Fox News host Tucker Carlson found himself in hot water after he claimed that white supremacy was a hoax perpetrated by the left. Carson insisted that the Democrats’ focus on white supremacy was politically motivated and designed only to keep those on the right from speaking up and fighting for their principles.

Like Biden before him, I’m going to cut Tucker some slack. I understand what he means, even if he didn’t articulate it the best way.

When Tucker says that white supremacists are so few in number that they could fit inside of a college football stadium, he means that that ideology is not the mainstream.

I understand that when he says that white supremacy is not our biggest problem, he means that decent Americans outnumber the real racists by hundreds of millions.

Of course, criticism of Tucker is warranted, specifically because last week’s shooting in El Paso was apparently motivated by white supremacist ideology. The shooting and the motive behind it was not a hoax and dozens were maimed and killed because of it.

Tucker’s comment was also foolish in the sense that it doesn’t take large numbers of motivated people to perpetrate evil, only a motivated few, much like radical Islamists that blow themselves up to destroy their religious enemies.

Still, in the wake of AOC’s virus comments, it’s important that someone speak out against the dangerous claim that everyone is a racist lying in wait.

If we listen to the likes of AOC, then Americans will find themselves quickly at each other’s throats in an effort to stop a “sickness” that doesn’t exist.

I’m not sure what really happened to Epstein. Maybe the prison guards turned a blind eye while Bill and Hillary entered his cell to snuff him out.

I do know that if we allow AOC’s diagnosis of white supremacy to become mainstream, we’ll all be embroiled in a situation worse than any conspiracy claims to foresee.
