Crime in Washington County is more common than most of the state, but there are four counties with higher “index rates.”
That’s according to information from the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) for the most recent reporting year, 2023.
The SBI collects information from the Uniform Crime Reporting Program and then calculates the Index Rates based on 100,000 of population. For July 1, 2023, Washington County’s population is listed at 10,548.
