Five newcomers threw their hats in the political arena for elected positions in Plymouth and one incumbent in Roper and Creswell signed up for another term during the first week of candidate filings.
Ron Ambrose has filed to retain his seat as a Creswell Commissioner and Denise Blount is seeking another term as Mayor for the Town of Roper.
A Creswell native, Ambrose has served on Creswell’s board since first being elected in 2013.
Well familiar to the community as a firefighter, he has served as chief of the Creswell department for more than 25 years.
He and his wife, retired educator Ginny Ambrose, have two grown daughters.
First elected to the position in 2015, Marquitta Denise Blount has filed to serve another term as Roper’s mayor.
