County breaks ground on new emergency, operations center

State and local officials marked the ceremonial start of construction last week with a groundbreaking on Washington County’s $5.5 million dollar EMTOC project that promises to add cohesion to several components of the emergency response team.

Contractors under A.R. Chesson Construction have worked for several weeks to clear timber and prepare an Emergency Management Training and Operations Center site along US Hwy 64 East at the terminus of Washington Street in Plymouth. Officials gathered for the 9 a.m. ceremony Thursday, August 14.
