Local law officers captured a man Saturday, November 8, after a 911 caller reported a man walking on Long Ridge Road about 2:30 p.m. that may have been the suspect accused of killing his grandmother and stabbing a deputy in Craven County.
Washington County deputies, assisted by Plymouth police, took the man into custody after staking out an wooded area for more two hours and establishing contact with the individual, who turned out not to be 24-year-old Dominic Connelly, who’s been at large since late October when he allegedly murdered his grandmother, burned her home to the ground and later stabbed a Craven County deputy.
William Tyler Wood, 42, who was secured at the Long Ridge Road location Saturday, was listed as “missing” in Beaufort County and is suspected in minor crimes in Virginia.
Washington County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Arlo Norman says the 911 caller was helpful in the capture, because he identified the location where the suspect entered the wooded area.
