Plymouth Food bank officially shut down per town’s order

Plymouth’s Food Pantry is shut down by order of the Town of Plymouth.

Liz Reasoner, director of Food Bank of the Albemarle that partners with the Plymouth pantry, calls the development shocking and alarming.

Reasoner says her organization is scrambling to determine an alternative delivery system in Washington County, since their mission is to feed the hungry

“We’re exploring alternatives and will try to roll out some option in Plymouth,” Reasoner said last week. “Maybe a pop-up mobile unit while we pursue a permanent solution.”

In its eviction decision, Plymouth’s town council says the lack of a lease agreement made eviction the best action.

Reasoner says she has worked with the Albemarle unit since 1995 and never heard any demand for a lease from Plymouth in that time...
