Councilman resigns brand new seat

Recently-elected Plymouth Town Councilman Steven Brown abruptly resigned his post at last week’s Council meeting, offering no specific reason for surrendering the seat he won in the municipal election two months earlier.

In making his announcement at the start of Council’s January 12 session, Brown cited unspecified “personal reasons” for his immediate resignation before walking from the room. Contacted later by phone, Brown declined to comment about his decision.

Brown’s announcement came less than five minutes into the meeting when he picked up his microphone following a visible glance and a nod from Mayor Crystal Davis. As he began speaking, Davis and Mayor Pro Temp Donsenia Teel exchanged whispers. As Brown walked from the council table, Davis added “thank you, Mr. Brown...”
