For more than a century, the Roanoke Beacon has prided itself on never missing a deadline throughout its long history of service to the Washington County community.
However this week that centuries long chain of service has been broken.
Unfortunately, our leader and Editor-in-Chief Mary Wayt is briefly out of commission due to an unforeseen and sudden illness.
As a result, The Beacon will not publish a physical edition this week.
In lieu of physical copies, we ask that our readers come to our website for the full breadth of last week’s events and happenings. We apologize for the inconvenience that this may cause and we regret not being able to get a copy of your community newspaper into your hands.
However we do ask that you be patient with us during this time. Until our editor is back comfortably behind her desk, our publishing and our in-office hours will be irregular.
Though, we expect to be open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.
But rest assured that we are still here and we will still be out and about in the community, documenting and covering events as usual.
We appreciate your patience and your ongoing support.
