Local author and community organizer Laura Orsini debuts her newest venture, RECYCLAMATION, with a Black Friday pop-up thrift event November 28, 9 a.m. through 3 p.m. at the Windsor Community Building, 201 South Queen Street.
Orsini touts RECYCLAMATION as a fresh take on the thrift experience — part community project, part creative experiment, part boutique treasure hunt. The event features curated secondhand finds, imaginative displays and a focus on giving new life to well-loved items.
Fifteen percent of all net sales will be donated to the Bertie County Humane Society, extending the spirit of reuse into community giving.
“I want people to see that reuse can be both beautiful and meaningful,” says Orsini. “This pop-up is a first glimpse of something bigger we’re building — a creative, community-based thrift space for Bertie County.”
Adding to the festive atmosphere, Jaylen’s Food Truck will be on site throughout the day and local musician Mickey Clement will provide live music.
Orsini is known locally as an award-winning collage artist and as chair of the Bertie County Tourism Development Authority. Her art and community projects often blend storytelling, sustainability and small-town charm.
