Harry and Whitney Spruill, a Plymouth couple, were killed Wednesday morning when their vehicle crossed the centerline on N.C. 32 and struck an oncoming tractor-trailer, leaving behind two young children and triggering an outpouring of community support that has raised nearly $48,000 in just days.
Harry Spruill, 42, was driving a Ford passenger car northbound on N.C. 32 when the vehicle crossed the centerline at approximately 11:42 a.m., just south of the N.C. 99 intersection, and struck an empty Freightliner grain truck traveling south, according to the N.C. Highway Patrol. Spruill and his passenger, Whit- ney Spruill, 37, were both pronounced
