When Americans celebrate Independence Day this year, they won’t simply be marking another Fourth of July. July 4, 2026, commemorates the 250th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence, and communities across northeastern North Carolina are embracing the milestone with expanded celebrations that blend Revolutionary history, hometown traditions and spectacular fireworks displays.
