For yet another year, Roper’s Newland Road was travelled by participants of all ages for the Bike-a thon, an event that has raised money for the victims of leukemia and those affected by serious illnesses for 44 years and counting.

Launched as part of the Annual Blood Cancer United (formerly Leukemia and Lymphoma Society), this year’s event honored none other than longtime organizer and founder, Tommy Marriner, who was nominated by the Ruritans for his tireless and unyielding support of the local community and his commitment to aiding others in their time of need.
