County to buy used ambulances from Pitt Co.

With its fleet diminished by two recent crashes, Washington-Tyrrell EMS is pursuing the purchase of two used ambulances from neighboring Pitt County.

Washington County Commissioners approved the purchase initiative by consensus last week, following brief discussion with County Manager Curtis Potter, who explained that Pitt County has the luxury of surplus ambulances and potential interest in selling some.

Potter described two used ambulances that have been inspected in by EMS Director Jennifer O’Neal. The vehicles are 2015 and 2016 models. One has 150,000 miles; the other has higher mileage, but with an engine replacement 10,000 miles ago...
