Plymouth’s Sampson Towe was a businessman and civic leader

At the turn of the 20th century, Samp son Towe was one of the most visible Black leaders in Plymouth. His name appears in the 1901 North Carolina Year Book and Business Directory, which documents him as both a merchant and a mem ber of Plymouth’s Board of Aldermen.
